Appointment: Ambassador for The HALO Trust

I’m honoured to be appointed as an Ambassador for The HALO Trust.

During my two decades as a diplomat, I worked in conflict and post-conflict environments across the world including Iraq, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe and Papua New Guinea. I’ve also represented Australia at the UN World Food Programme on humanitarian issues.

Experiences like these change how you understand conflict and its consequences.

Long after wars end, landmines continue to threaten civilians, prevent farming and rebuilding, and make communities unsafe. The HALO Trust works to address this challenge.

Founded in 1988, The HALO Trust clears landmines and explosives, manages weapons, delivers education and training, and helps make post-conflict land safe and restore livelihoods in war-affected communities.

Many people remember Princess Diana bringing global attention to the landmine crisis. Today the work continues in some of the world’s most difficult environments, including Gaza and Ukraine.

I’ve recently had the opportunity to undertake some strategic advisory work with HALO in the Asia-Pacific. I’m honoured to now support their mission as an Ambassador., contributing strategic insight, advocacy and networks to support the organisation’s mission and expand awareness of its work globally.

Global conflict is now at its highest level since the Second World War. The work of The HALO Trust has never been more important.
