Book launch at the Australian War Memorial

What a night!

On 12 August 2026, I had the privilege of MC-ing the launch of Julia Delaforce’s new book, Treatment of a Woman in the Military, at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra.

It was a significant night for Julia. For more than 15 years, she had been prevented from speaking publicly about her experience. The launch gave her the opportunity to finally tell her story, in her own words and on her own terms, surrounded by family, friends, fellow whistleblowers, advocates, veterans and supporters.

The evening included an exclusive preview of an upcoming documentary marking two years since the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide delivered its Final Report, as well as a panel discussion led by Konrad Benjamin of Punter’s Politics. Julia was joined on the panel by fellow whistleblowers Jeff Morris OAM, Kent Quinlan, Troy Stolz and Sharon Kelsey, who shared their own experiences of speaking up and challenging powerful systems.

This was never going to be your average book launch! Check out more photos from the evening on Instagram and LinkedIn.
